The Manufactured Housing Division is committed to the protection of Texas consumers by increasing compliance with all federal and state manufactured housing laws through education and enforcement.

Beginning June 1, 2026, the Manufactured Housing Division will begin an initiative focusing on the timely filing of applications for Statements of Ownership. Completed applications must be submitted to the Division within sixty (60) days of the date of sale.

Per Section 1201.206(h) of the Texas Occupations Code, if a person selling a manufactured home to a consumer for residential use fails to file with the Division the application for the issuance of a Statement of Ownership and the appropriate filing fee before the 61st day after the date of the sale, the Division may assess a late fee of $100 against the seller. Any application submitted after the deadline may result in a delay in the issuance of the Statement of Ownership until the late fee has been paid in full.

The purpose of this announcement is to educate and inform the manufactured housing industry about the legal requirements to timely submit Statement of Ownership applications to the Manufactured Housing Division in advance of any late fees and/or enforcement action, in hopes of promoting voluntary compliance and reduce consumer complaints and enforcement action.
