Step 2 – Identify Licensing Requirements
Do not apply for license or bond until business name is registered and education class is completed.
Can install manufactured homes.

- Fingerprints
- $25,000 Surety Bond
- Copy of class Certificate of Attendance
- Copy of business name filing or Article of Incorporation
- $350.00

Step 4 – Sole Proprietorship or General Partnership
Register with the County Clerk in the county where business will be conducted and obtain an Assumed Name Certificate
For Corporations, Limited Liability Companies, Limited Partnerships and/or Limited Liability Partnerships
Register with the Texas Secretary of State and obtain Articles of Incorporation certificate. Go to https://www.sos.state.tx.us/
Step 5
Select link to print form and mail in with application and fee after attending education class.
Step 6
For Texas residents select and print links # 1 and #2 below (out of state residents select #3):
- Fingerprinting Instructions (PDF)
- Texas Fingerprint Service Code Form (PDF)
- Out of State Fingerprinting Instructions (PDF)
Apply for license within 30 days of submitting fingerprints for criminal background check.
Step 7
Complete application and submit with items listed in Step 2 (except fingerprints which are sent to the Department by vendor).
