TICH Progress Reports

Texas Gov’t Code §2306 Subchapter KK directs the TICH to submit annually a progress report to the governing bodies of the agencies represented on the Council:

Agency Research

The Department is directed by Rider 16 of the State of Texas 2026 – 2027 General Appropriations Act passed during the 89th Texas Legislature Regular Session to conduct a “Feasibility Study to Address Homelessness”. “The study shall consider partnerships with institutions of higher education, private entities, and local governments; the use of small dwelling units, as defined by the agency; and community development services and plans provided through programs at institutions of higher education.”

Not later than December 31, 2026, the agency shall prepare and submit to the Office of the Governor, the Office of the Lieutenant Governor, and the Legislative Budget Board a written report that includes a summary of the results of the study conducted and any recommendations for legislative or other action based on the results of the study. The final study and any recommendations presented by the department will be post below upon completion.
