Program Details/Overview
The Contract for Deed Program is funded through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME Program or HOME.) The CFD program funds organizations wishing to assist colonia residents with converting contracts for deed into traditional mortgages. Contract for Deed involves acquisition or refinance, and may occur with one of the following additional activities:
- Reconstruction or New Construction of site-built housing;
- Replacement of an existing Manufactured Housing Unit (MHU) with a new MHU; and
- Rehabilitation of colonia housing.
Programs
TDHCA contracts with units of general local governments, public housing authorities, local mental health authorities, and nonprofit entities that provide affordable housing to lower income families in their local communities. Applicants must be familiar with Program rules and Regulations.

Program Beneficiaries must have a household income that does not exceed 80% of Area Median Family Income (AMFI) who are seeking assistance converting their Contracts for Deeds.
